Improved Work

B) An example of Work that you initially had difficulty with, than finally succeeded in mastering. Include 'before' and 'after' examples of the work along with a paragraph on what 'clicked' to make you understand this work.

For this before and after portion of the portfolio, I have chosen the Factoring Quizzes. Obviously, when I first learned about factoring in Algebra I(H), I felt it was a difficult topic. Then when in Algebra II(H), it only got more difficult. There is now prime factorization with variables, and factoring with cubes. I found this especially difficult, and the rules of cubes were even more difficult. In the midst of this mayhem, we were to take a factoring quiz on the subject. Luckily, this quiz would only count when we got an 80% or higher. As I said, my main difficulty with these problems is remembering the rules for cubes, and seeing if something is or is not prime. I remember, when taking the first quiz that it took me a great deal longer than it should have. When finished, I was unhappy to find that I had gotten 3 questions wrong. One of these errors was a simple mistake, and the other two were because I didn't understand the cubic rules, and thought two problems were prime, which they weren't. On the second quiz, I got an 80%. This may not seem like a big improvement, but the only problems I got wrong were simple mistakes. To achieve this goal I simply studied the rules of the factoring a bit more, and it finally clicked.
